Welcome to the Malahide Historical Society's site where you can learn about the Society, about Malahide and it's environs and find pointers for further research.
The Illustrated Historical Guide provides information about places and buildings of historical interest and there are also detailed articles on the Talbots and Malahide Castle, Lambay Island, the Grand Hotel, St. Sylvester's Well, Tom Kettle, 20th Century Malahide Shops, etc and Maritime Malahide including regattas in the 1870's. Additional material will be added from time to time.
We welcome material for possible posting on this site but the final decision on what to publish must rest with the Society.
Suggestions for additional items, site improvements, etc are welcome. We would also appreciate hearing about any difficulties experienced in navigating through the pages or external links.

Cotton Mill at Barrack Bridge
Col. Richard Talbot set up a substantial water driven mill in 1783. Does anyone have any information about this enterprise or can they point to possible sources for research? If so we would very much like to hear from you at
Photographic Archive
Farrell Holton's shop (later Findlaters) stood between present Ulster Bank and XtraVision
We are seeking images of Malahide over the last century to build an archive which can be preserved for the future.
Do you have any old photographs, postcards, paintings or drawings to donate or that we could borrow, carefully copy and promptly return?
20th Century Malahide
We have added a new page in the "About Malahide" section titled as above. Please take time to glance through the information - we believe all Malahide residents will find it fascinating and it also emphasises how much our village has changed. We plan to continue to gather stories, facts, reminiscences, etc. about Malahide in the last century i.e. 1900 -1999.
We are especially looking for help in recording the various shops and businesses that operated in Malahide - can you add anything to the information on the 20th Century Malahide page?
